Al Gore – The Climate Change Champion

Al Gore’s new movie on climate change that is a follow up to the academy award winning ‘An Inconvenient Truth’

Al Gore (‘Al’) (algore.com) is a highly recognised and respected global personality who is known for his authenticism and championing climate change. He has raised awareness of the problem and is now tackling head-on the challenges that need to be resolved (Maslin 2017), driving action on the solutions.

An illustration of this is his latest movie’s subtitle ‘Truth to Power’, which is the stated aim of the Critical Discourse Analysis field which describes the uncovering of power abuse in discourse by those in power (Fairclough 2012, p. 10).

Al’s career achievements are highly impressive and include being the 45th Vice President of the USA from 1993 to 2001 under Bill Clinton, and just losing the 2002 presidential election, despite winning the popular vote. He has been an elected representative since 1976 serving in both the House of Representatives and the US Senate.

He also has the rare distinction of winning both a Noble peace prize and an Academy Award for his work with climate change. He is a Director of Apple Inc. and a partner in a prestigious USA legal firm. (Gore 2017)
